New fashion editorial “Neo Tribal” published at OK Okay Magazine!
Neo Tribal is the result of a creative collaboration during which I came together with industry friends to play and create. At the time I was super excited as I thought I coined the term Neo Tribal. I imagined it as contemporary sub-culture that takes a new perspective on tribal practices. For example, we substituted the traditional camouflage war paint with neon colours that would mix in with an urban environment. We emphasized the latter through the addition of coloured gels, and shot through greased glass for creative effect on this project.
Turns out that it is an actual term (although a little less exciting than my own definition): Neo–Tribalism is a sociological concept which postulates that human beings have evolved to live in tribal society, as opposed to mass society; and thus will naturally form social networks constituting new “tribes”.
A selection from this series was published at OK Okay Magazine on the 27th of July 2016, and can be viewed here.
The full set of images is now available for viewing in my fashion portfolio here.
If you love what you see and are curious as to how these images were created, please join me at my next fashion photography workshop which will be hosted at the Nikon School South AFrica on 20 August 2016. Tickets for the event are available here.
