Beautiful four look model portfolio for Marlien V at GAPA Model Agency!
Today we are featuring the model portfolio of Marlien V at GAPA Model Agency. This four look test shoot is inspired by spirit animals, the Great Gatsby, nature and tattoo art. I absolutely loved working with Marlien. Not only does she fully engage with the camera and scene, but we also share the same interests and ideologies.
Marlien would probably be described as an alternative model, because her body is the canvas for some truly beautiful artworks. I asked Marlien to share her thoughts on the designs: “The inspiration behind my tattoos, and especially my sleeve, is my interest & fascination with Native American beliefs”. She goes on to describe the belief system as being all about Mother Nature and the great spirit. “Everything is connected and we are connected to everything. So my tattoos represent my inner personal journey and, off course, having pure art on my body”, says Marlien. Her tattoo artist is Vudulew Williams at Rumble & Hum Tattoo in Weltevreden Park, Johannesburg.
Marlien is herself also a creative & abstract artist, and you can see her art here.
I just love shooting model portfolios! You get to meet the most interesting people, collaborate with other artists and explore new ideas. One cannot fully imagine the imagery that will unfold when creative minds come together and engage. Shooting model portfolios are also a good way for aspiring fashion photographers to build up their portfolio. I will talk a bit more on this at my next workshop on Fashion Photography to be hosted at Nikon House in Centurian, for more info pop over to the Nikon School website.
